Administration
We are Thornton! Home of the Wildcats! We are proud of this fact.
Our school motto is “Championship Educators develop Championship Students;” and our mission is to become one of the top performing high schools in the state, academically and athletically!
We are working to achieve our educational goal by aligning our curriculum with state standards. This will not only help our students to achieve, it will give them the foundation that they need to successfully enroll in college or a vocational program, enlist in military service, or become employed at or above a livable wage when they graduate.
Thornton has a great legacy of students who accomplish great things. Our students are regularly accepted at elite colleges and participate in programs and activities that help them to excel and become productive citizens. Thornton has the noteworthy distinction of being among 5,300 schools across 158 countries that successfully completed the International Baccalaureate Programme’s (IB) challenging application process. The program offers our students the opportunity for personal development and academic achievement by challenging them to think critically. We celebrate the Thornton class of 2021 for earning the highest number of IB diplomas compared to other schools within the District.
Our school is honored to be the beneficiary of the Thornton Alumni Legacy Fund, which was founded by Thornton graduates in 2004. The on-going and generous support of this charitable organization has helped us to create and enhance academic and extracurricular programs.
I have 19 years of experience in the field of education. Prior to coming to District 205, I was the principal at Rich Central High School, a district administrator in Rich Township High School District 227, and the principal of McKinley Middle School in South Holland. I am serving my first year as the principal of Thornton Township High School after previously serving as the school’s associate principal for one year. In my current capacity, I am the instructional leader and am responsible for the academic, as well as the social/emotional, growth of students and staff.
The most rewarding part of my job is getting students to believe they can achieve greatness while gaining the skill set that will allow them to sustain that greatness in every walk of life. We proudly state that, “We develop the next generation of LEADERS!”
Our students continue to highlight the best of Wildcat Pride, as they work to develop themselves for leadership in our global society. They are closely guarded and strongly supported by our Wildcat Staff, Alumni, Parents, Guardians, and Community, who function under the banner of, “One Team, One Mission!”
¡Saludos Wildcats!
I am eager and excited to be the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at Thornton Township High School. I have experience as a Division Leader of Mathematics and Business for Thornridge High School, Outlook Academy, and Peace Center. While serving as an instructional leader of mathematics and business, I focused on data-driven instruction through common formative assessments to increase student performance on state assessments. I have created systems to increase student performance on the math section of the SAT and initiated curriculum changes throughout the district that have higher than expected growth in multiple grade levels in both math and reading.
Prior to an administrative role, I spent many years in the classroom as a mathematics teacher, MTSS Coordinator, and Advanced Placement Coordinator at Thornton Township District 205. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics Education from Saint Xavier University; Administrative Leadership from Governors State University with a Master of Arts Degree and I am currently enrolled at Northern Illinois University seeking an Ed.S. in Educational Administration Superintendent Preparation Program into an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.
